Nokia has announced that Maps and Navigation will be an important part of its Ovi Internet services offering. Michael Halbherr will give a short glimpse of what the rest of the year holds for Nokia Maps, and show where the Mobile Web and the tethered Web are merging.
Michael spent two years at europatweb, the Internet investment vehicle of Groupe Arnault, overseeing all technology investments, including gate5. Prior to this he was with the Boston Consulting Group. He left the company after six years at manager level and a core member of BCG’s high-tech practice. He then spent four years with the Lab for Computer Science at MIT, and holds a PhD in Computer Science and a Masters in Electrical Engineering from ETH Zurich. Before joining Nokia in 2006 Michael headed gate5 AG, the former leading supplier of mapping, routing and navigation software and services, for five years. Since the acquisition of gate5 through Nokia, Michael has been heading Location Based Experiences in the Find new experiences. Currently he is Vice President at Nokia gate5
