Presentations: BoF

Birds of a Feather (BoF) sessions provide face to face exposure to those interested in the same projects and concepts. BoFs are entirely up to you. We post your topic online and onsite and provide the space and time. You provide the engaging topic.

BoFs will be held:

  • Tuesday: 9:00pm – 11:00pm

AfricaMap: Developing a Geographically Focused Collaboration Platform
AfricaMap will start to address the problem of finding detailed data for the African continent. Data exists but needs to be organized and shared to be useful. AfricaMap proposes development of a detailed base map within an open source collaborative environment to support georeferencing and sharing research materials, and fostering interdisciplinary collaboration.

There is more open geodata in the world today than we have ever seen before. Mapping data from projects like OpenStreetMap or from governments, aerial imagery and points of interest are all available for us to use. We'll look at where open geodata is coming from today, how its being used and how we can open up geodata even more.
