ArcGIS and the Web: Better Sharing of Geographic Information

Location: Regency Ballroom
Average rating: ***..
(3.78, 9 ratings)

ArcGIS can be used as a system for finding, sharing, and using GIS content across the Web. With ArcGIS Online, users can search for maps published by ESRI users, upload maps and register online map services, organize and control access to the maps they share, and create and save Web maps as items for others to share, discover, and use. You can add your own content to ArcGIS Online, share items or keep them private, and create and join groups.

Better sharing of geographic information is enabled in part via new ArcGIS technology that allows layers referencing feature or raster data to be packaged into a single layer package, comprised of both the cartography and data layer. These layer packages can be shared with other users via files, e-mail, or the new ArcGIS Online sharing capability.
