Patrick brings 15 years of software development experience and 10 years developing GIS applications to Integral GIS. He is passionate about integrating other modeling techniques into GIS, and works to incorporate advances in visualization technology and numerical methods.
Patrick started his professional software career at Microsoft after obtaining degrees in Computer Science, Physics, and Mathematics. He believes that clients (and the community) can be better served by the incorporation of GIS. Also that, “if we can develop GIS and spatial applications for people, they will benefit in ways that aren’t only measured with money, but large conceptual and philosophical shifts can occur”. Information and decision ecologies of organizations benefit from the proactive application of spatial information.
Patrick holds an MSc in Civil Engineering, and was exposed to many more concepts through Tom Poiker’s UniGIS program at Simon Fraser University. Some of what he has learned, was combined with co-authors, Jeff Thurston and Tom Poiker, in the book, Integrated Geospatial Technologies (John Wiley & Sons, 2003).
